RAY A. CAMPBELL
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Ray Albert Campbell, 78, of Idaho Falls, quietly passed on August 22, 2005, at his home of Leukemia, surrounded by loving family. Ray was born January 30, 1927, in Ammon, Idaho, to Alfred Easton and Ada Owen Campbell. He was born 7th out of 13 children.
He grew up and went to school in Ammon, Idaho, and at age 17 joined the U. S. Navy and served during World War II. In April of 2002, Ray received his high school graduation diploma from Idaho Falls High School as an honored Veteran from World War II.
After returning home from the service in 1944, Ray found work in Utah at the Kennecott Copper Mines, for a short time, then returned home to Idaho Falls where he has lived and worked most of his life. He worked in many areas over the years as a welder, mechanic, and on irrigation systems. He has always been good with his hands and enjoyed doing woodwork, welding and could fix just about anything that was broken. He also enjoyed bow hunting, camping, singing, playing his guitar and harmonica and spending time with his family and friends.
Ray married Earlene Isom on April 29, 1958, and on December 17, 1966, solemnized their marriage for all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple. Together they served a 12 month LDS mission at the Idaho Falls, Idaho, Bishops Store House from 1991 to 1992. He has faithfully served in many other church callings over the years.
Ray will always be remembered for his friendly and helpful ways. He always had a smile and a friendly story or comment for others making them smile. If he saw someone that needed help he would stop and help. He always had time to help his neighbors and found ways to give service to everyone around him.
Ray is survived by his eternal companion Earlene Isom Campbell; daughters, Carole Jo (Terry) Dutton, Dianna Lynn Liebert, Sandra Dee (Kenneth) Knoelk, all of Idaho Falls, and Elana Rae (Ralph) Garcia of Point Mugu, CA.
