Ranie Diane Mattingly, 57, of Idaho Falls, passed away November 28, 2015, at her brother’s home in Ashton, Idaho. Ranie was born June 10, 1958, in New Bern, North Carolina, to Louis B. Mattingly and Maylon E. Mattingly Story. At the age of 4, the family moved to Santa Ana, California. After seven years, they moved to Arimo, Idaho, where she attended Marsh Valley High School. Ranie then moved to Denver, Colorado, where she attended Bible College and worked for 2 years. After this, she lived and worked in various towns in Idaho, finally coming to Idaho Falls, Idaho, in 1998. During this time Ranie attended Idaho State University where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Science Education of the Hearing Impaired. She received two Master’s Degrees in Science Deaf Education and Education Curriculum and Instruction. She also worked as an educational specialist for the Idaho Educational Services for the Deaf and Blind. She was a Christian. Ranie loved animals, and was a great supporter of the Humane Society in Idaho Falls. She enjoyed kayaking, hiking, and camping. Ranie loved children and worked as an educator for many years.
Ranie is survived by her brother, Thomas Mattingly of Ashton, ID; sister, Lorie (Bill) Franke of Tillamook, OR. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister-in-law, Debrah K. Mattingly; and three nieces. Memorial Services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday, December 4, 2015, at Christ Community Church, 5742 S. 5th W. (Park Road), with Joel Walton officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bonneville Humane Society, P.O. Box 2763, Idaho Falls, ID 83403.
