Ralph Sorensen

Ralph Thomas Sorensen, 85, of Idaho Falls, passed away February 6, 2017, at his home.

Ralph was born January 11, 1932, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Edward Peter Sorensen and Verna Mae Nihbor Sorensen. He grew up and attended schools in the area, graduating from Madison High School. After graduation, Ralph joined the military and served four years in the U.S. Navy.

In September of 1955, he married Clairelyn McKinlay in Idaho Falls. To this union were born three daughters: Carrie, Tami, and Stephanie. They were later divorced. In February of 1961, he married Jeanette Aiman in Idaho Falls. To this union was born one child: Troy. They later divorced. Ralph worked as a Carpenter and he later co-owned and operated R&J Sorensen Construction.

Ralph enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting, bowling, golfing and especially fishing.

Ralph is survived by daughter, Carrie (Don) Potter of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Tamara (Mike) Bolender of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Stephanie Scott (David O’Dell, deceased) of Boise, ID; son, Troy (Michelle) Sorensen of Boise, ID; brother, Jerry (Karen) Sorensen of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Mel Sorensen of Ogden, UT. and 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Wesley; two adult brothers, Rex and Weston "Ginger"; and three sisters, Grace Wood, LaRue "Tootie" Fleetwood and Evelyn Jenkins.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 2017, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue. The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 1:00-1:45 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team, c/o Jim Greenhalgh, 1934 North 3750 East, Idaho Falls, ID 83401.
