IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Ralph John Moss, Jr., 77, of Idaho Falls, died January 13, 2002, at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of natural causes. He was born May 28, 1924, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ralph John Moss, Sr. and Hazel Roberts Moss. He attended North Davis High School and Utah State University. He served in the U. S. Navy as Chief Petty Officer 3rd Class during World War II, as a Lieutenant in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict and as a Captain in the Army Reserves. He married Beverly Burningham in West Bountiful, Utah, September 20, 1946. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple. She preceded him in death June 3, 1983. He resided in West Bountiful for 20 years, and worked for the Deseret Livestock Company in Woodruff, Utah. Upon receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Science, he moved to Idaho and worked in Fort Hall for 3 years for the Fort Hall Indian Reservation. He has lived in Idaho Falls for the past 47 years. He worked as a County Extension Agent in Bonneville, Madison, Teton and Fremont Counties and retired as a Professor Emeritus at the University of Idaho. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served as a teacher and Sunday School President. He also served as Secretary of the Idaho Wool Growers Association, the Bonneville County Cattleman’s Association, and Bonneville County Wheat Growers Association. He was a member of the Rotary Club, an officer of the Idaho Cattleman's Association, chairman of the Beautify Bonneville Committee and earned the “Silver Plow Award” from the Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed being a grandfather, fishing, fly tying, hunting and loved classical music. Surviving are:Daughter: Christine (Jon) Shindurling, Idaho Falls, IDSon: R. John Moss III, Idaho Falls, ID8 Grandchildren, Melissa, Marianne, Amanda, Alison, Michael, Melinda, Tiffany and William. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2002, at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, in Bountiful, Utah. The family will visit with friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Wood Funeral Home in Idaho Falls and beginning at 12 Noon on Friday at Russon Brothers Mortuary in Bountiful. Military Rites will be performed by the National Guard. Burial will be in Bountiful Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, Idaho Falls, Idaho 83402-4092.
