Ralph "Kent" Lovejoy, 85, of Rexburg, passed away January 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Kent was born November 3, 1939, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Thorne Howard Lovejoy and Verla Stoddard Lovejoy. He grew up and attended school in Nyssa, Oregon and graduated from Idaho Falls High School.
He married, Linda Irene Storer, in 1963 in Idaho Falls and they are the proud parents of 9 children. Kent and Linda made their home in Denver, Colorado, where Kent worked as a Process Engineer, they then retired back to Rexburg, Idaho.
Kent was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission in the Innsbruck, Austria Mission. He loved wood carving and being in the mountains. His childhood summers were spent at a family sawmill in Island Park, where he helped load the logs into the mill from a very young age. As he grew older he instilled his love of the outdoors into his children and grandchildren. Kent's other hobby was martial arts, he could always be seen letting people practice hitting him in the stomach. The only thing bigger than him was his heart.
Kent is survived by his son, Christian (Shaunna) of Monument, CO; son, James (Rachel) of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Noelle (John) Gardner of Salt Lake, Ut; daughter, Susan (Steve) of Island Park, ID; son, Andrew (Danielle) of Salt Lake, Ut; son, Matthew (Laurel) of Highlands Ranch, CO; son, Peter (Kim) of Marietta, OH; daughter, Megan (Justin) Garner of Rexburg, ID; son, Samual (Hannah) of Colorado Springs, CO; sister, Pat of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Mike (Charlie) of Idaho Falls, ID; 35 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Irene Storer Lovejoy; father, Howard Lovejoy; mother, Verla Lovejoy; brother, Dan Lovejoy; and brother, Bill Lovejoy.
Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 15th, 2025, at the Rexburg Summerfield 1st Ward, 2332 W. 2000 S., with Bishop Jake Romney officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10 – 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
