RALPH DENNIS HOGAN
Ralph Dennis Hogan, age 75, died at his home in Shelley, October 31, 2001.
He was born January 10, 1926, at Lincoln, Idaho, to Raymond and Emma Tracy Hogan. He attended school at Lincoln, Fairview, and Ucon.
On December 12, 1946, he married Ruth Polson of Idaho Falls. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on May 24, 1965. He was the 8th security guard hired in 1949 for the DOE—INEEL. After 27 years of dedicated service, he took a medical retirement in 1977.
Dennis loved hunting, fishing, and gardening.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he held many church positions, including being an active Scouter for 33 years.
He was very proud to have served his country in the Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific. He received the Purple Heart while fighting on Iwo Jima, where he was in the first wave of Marines to land.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; 3 daughters and 2 sons, Linda, of West Jordan, Utah; Patricia Carr, of Blackfoot; Michael, of Idaho Falls; Daniel (Sherie), of North Salt Lake, Utah; and Barbara, of Shelley; 5 sisters and 2 brothers—Berniece (Norman) Belnap, of Shelley; Ray (Marie) Hogan, of Blackfoot; Dorothy (Ray) Barker, of Idaho Falls; Sharon (Larry) Corsini, of Foresthill, California; Eva McGary, of Idaho Falls; George Sparr, of Idaho Falls; and Kay (Jerry) Bregg, of Marietta, Georgia; and 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Friday, November 2, at 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., at the Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, in Idaho Falls.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Shelley 4th Ward meetinghouse, 184 North Park Street, following a viewing one hour prior, with Bishop Terrill Christensen officiating.
Burial will be at the Taylor Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, Idaho Falls, ID 83402. Phone 522-2751. FAX 522-5413.
