Although I didn't know Uncle Ernie that well, had only met him a handful of times, he was a great friend and companion to Gramma, his sister, and for that, he is very dear to me.

Greetings and condolences to the Ashliman family. I was Ralph's Post Register Carrier from 1997 until he moved into Good Samaritan. The last little while I have missed not seeing him. He was always a cheerful, sunny presence in what were usually otherwise cold, dark mornings. I worried for him at the last, tho. The last time I saw him, not too long before his paper was stopped, he came to the door to take the paper from me. He had his usual cheery greeting for me, but his hands and bare feet were swollen and quite gray colored. He walked slower than he ever had, and looked tired. I will miss him. But I am glad that now he is beyond all of those infirmities. I look forward to some day seeing that bright smile again, some where beyond the stars.
Best Wishes to you all, Diana and Cameron Boldman

When I read of Ernie's passing so many memories came back to me. I was Thelma Hart's visiting teacher many years ago and got to know Ernie and Alice through her. What a darling loving couple they were. I feel so happy this morning as I imagine them together once again walking hand in hand along a beautiful fishing stream with their tiny baby. I promised to do Ernie and Alice's temple work and seal the baby to them. Ernie was ok with it and gave me permission to do Alice's work. Unless of course if there is a family member who would like to do it. Please let me know. May you be comforted in the memories of a good man and a life well lived. sincerely , Sally
