Port Wood

Port Wood, 84, of Ammon, passed away peacefully, September 2, 2022.

Port was born July 5, 1938, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Vaughn Milo Wood and Wanda Nadine Reading Wood. He grew up in Idaho Falls in his early years and attended O.E. Bell Junior High. He graduated from high school in Roy, Montana.

Port was a member of the Methodist church. He enjoyed farming, and spending time in the outdoors. He especially enjoyed boating, snowmobiling, fishing, and camping. He loved watching sports, particularly football, baseball, and horse racing, and he loved studying history.

Port is survived by his loving children, James Port Wood of Idaho Falls, ID, Debra Lyn Wood Whitehead of Spokane, WA, Jesse Frank (Sharon) Wood of Orchard Park, NY, and Clinton J Wood of Idaho Falls, ID; 12 grandchildren: Thomas Wood, Jay Tanner Whitehead, Amanda Wood Trimble, Cydney Whitehead, Paige Wood Parker, Rachel Cummins, Kayla Cummins, Blaiken Wood Waters, Reagan Cummins Heald, Kennedy Cummins Bowcutt, Brennen Wood, and Bentlee Wood; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Jack Wood, sister, Nadine Renken, and sister, Kaye Talbot.

Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, September 9, 2022, at the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery, 12463 East 129 North. The family will visit with friends Thursday, September 8, 2022, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, and from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
