Phyllis Anne Tobias, born on March 2, 1942, to Morris Kline and Antoinette Tautkins Kline, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2024, at the age of 82. A devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, Phyllis' life was a testament to love, compassion, and service.
Phyllis' first marriage to Thomas Louis Vlach brought forth two beloved daughters, Sarah Anne Vlach (Mark Holbrook) and Susan Rebecca Wilson. She was a proud mother, always encouraging her children to pursue their dreams.
Joyfully, she later met and married Paul Henry ("Pete") Tobias, with whom she formed a deep and loving bond until his passing in 2021. She loved being a grandmother to Hans Holbrook, Helen and Constance Sharp, Sam Wilson and Hannah Holbrook.
Phyllis dedicated her professional life to social work, making a significant impact on the lives of many. She worked in adoptions and felt it a privilege to help both birth parents and adoptive parents. After retiring from adoption work at Jewish Family Service, she worked at Isaac M. Wise Temple. She was known for her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering support for those in need. Outside of her career, Phyllis was an active member of her community, participating in book clubs and volunteering her time to various causes, always ready to lend a helping hand.
