Phyllis Hess

Phyllis Viola Hess, 77, of St. Anthony, passed away January 31, 2015, at Madison Memorial Hospital, surrounded by loved ones. Phyllis was born August 20, 1937, in Ashton, Idaho, to Erwin Spitz and Goldie Whitmore Spitz. She grew up and attended schools in Ashton, and graduated from North Fremont High School. Phyllis was a loving mother to her son, Cory, and a loving grandmother to Ashley and Jenna. She made her home in Fremont County, where she had worked as a store manager, bartender, and cook. She was a member of the Lutheran Church. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, animals, family, and work. Phyllis is survived by her son, Cory Lee (Lisa) Larson of St. Anthony, ID; granddaughter, Ashley Larson of Pocatello, ID; granddaughter, Jenna Larson of Pocatello, ID; sister, Ellie (Ron) Veneman of Burley, ID; sister-in-law, Judy Walker of Rigby, ID; brother, Bruce (Sharon) Spitz of Ashton, ID; niece, Sandy (Bob) Fulks of Rigby, ID; and many other beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Erwin and Goldie Spitz; brothers, Boyd and Leo Spitz; and a sister, Elaine Olson. Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Bonneville Humane Society, P.O. Box 2763, Idaho Falls, ID 83403.
