Biography

Phillip Harold Barlow, 91, of Ammon, Idaho, passed away December 28, 2013, at Monticello Assisted Living Center in Idaho Falls of causes incident to age. He was under the care of his loving family and Hospice of Eastern Idaho. Phil was born April 29, 1922, in Farmington, Utah, to Harold Otis Barlow and Grace Moon Barlow. He grew up and attended schools in Kaysville and graduated from Davis High School, where he was a part of the Kaysville Basketball team. Phil was a proud member of the U.S. Marine Corps and served his country during World War II in the South Pacific and again during the Korean Conflict. While serving in the military he met the love of his life, Shirley Marie Fronk. They had a whirlwind and very short courtship and were married April 27, 1945, in Yuma, Arizona. Early in their marriage they moved to Idaho Falls, where Phil worked as a butcher. His profession took them to Aberdeen for ten years, but most of their years together – and their happiest years – were spent on Curlew Drive in Ammon. Dad's greatest passion, outside his family, was his love of horses. He was a member of the Bonneville Mounted Posse, the American Legion and the Bonneville Cutter Association. Dad loved horse racing, training horses, breeding horses and betting on horses. He took great pleasure in seeing the new colts every spring with his son. Les. No one looked better in a cowboy hat! He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Phillip is survived by Son, Les (Darla) Barlow of Idaho Falls, ID; Daughter, Joan Berg of Chico, CA; Daughter, Kay Goodrich of Gainesville FL; Daughter, Susan (Grant) Richardson of Idaho Falls, ID; Daughter, Robbin (Gary) Bean of Roy, UT; Son, Allen (Glenda) Barlow of Idaho Falls, ID; Son, Brent (Cheryl) Barlow of Grand Junction, CO; Son, Bruce(Julie) Barlow of Sparks, NV; Sister, Lillian Anhder of Orem, UT. 26 Grandchildren and 51 Great Grandchildren.
