Click Here To View Memorial Video Pauline Benjamin Wall, 91, passed away June 6, 2013, at Fairwinds Retirement Community in Idaho Falls. She was born in Virgil, New York, on October 6, 1921, to James DeWitt Benjamin and Lula Robinson Benjamin. She had an older brother, Wallace, and younger brother, Harold. She spent her youth in Virgil, graduating from Homer High School in 1938. She married Leo Smith in 1940 and they made their home in Virgil. They had one daughter, Eileen. After Leo’s untimely death in 1952, Pauline and Eileen continued to make their home in Virgil. Pauline married Glenn Myers on October 16, 1954. They had one daughter, Paula. Pauline worked as housekeeper of the Sigma Rho Sigma sorority at SUNY Cortland from 1964 until Glenn’s retirement in 1974. Pauline and Glenn moved to Florida, where they spent many happy years living their dream of retirement in the Sunshine State. Pauline continued to work, receiving her Associate’s Degree in Food Preparation from Hernando-Pasco Community College. She retired from the School District twice, first in 1984 and then again in 1998. She tirelessly cared for Glenn until his passing in 1997. After Glenn’s passing, Pauline continued to live in Florida. Pauline married long-time friend Stanton Wall on July 4, 1998, and they spent summers in their shared hometown (Homer, NY) and winters in Florida. They vacationed in Arizona, Branson, Missouri, and on the St. Lawrence River. After Stant’s passing in 2006, Pauline returned permanently to Florida. She volunteered at Hernando County Hospice and was involved in a weekly craft group. In 2008, she decided it was time to live closer to family, so she moved to Idaho Falls, where she enjoyed every day of her newest adventure in life. She met many new friends and embraced the move with her typical zeal for life, wanting to learn about Idaho and it’s history. Pauline grew an assortment of plants in her apartment and loved to read Danielle Steel novels. She always looked forward to her daily games with other Fairwinds residents. Through the years, she was an accomplished seamstress and cake decorator and crocheted beautiful edgings and doilies. Pauline is survived by her daughters, Paula Fackrell (partner Dave Tyson) and Eileen Harrington-Bracken; grandchildren Brian, Mark, and Renee Harrington; six stepchildren, Beverly (Gordon) Johnson, Pat Bucholz (partner Steve Butts), Betty Allen, Glenda Everidge, Millie Clark, and Charles Myers; sister-in-law, Barbara Benjamin; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pauline was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, brothers, a sister-in-law, stepdaughter, and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff and residents of Fairwinds for making Pauline’s life so enjoyable and fulfilled and the staff at Hands of Hope Hospice for their compassionate care of Pauline and the family. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at 3:30 p.m. at Fairwinds Retirement Community (Creekside Room), 3310 Valencia Drive, Idaho Falls. A Funeral Service will be held at a later date under the direction of Wright-Beard Funeral Home in Cortland, New York, with burial of her ashes in Virgil Cemetery.
