Pauline was born November 15, 1933, in Hebron, Nebraska, to Paul and Lucille Mathiesen. She had four brothers, Bud, John, Dale, and Robert. When Pauline was 13 years old, her family moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Pauline worked as a waitress at Liberty Café for Sammy Wong. She then worked for Sammy Wong and Harry Gee at The Bonneville restaurant until she retired at the age of 70. Pauline enjoyed waiting tables and meeting new people.
Pauline married August Rhoades on May 18, 1956. They had five children, Steven (Paulette) Rhoades, Paul Rhoades, Roberta Rhoades, Teresa Rhoades, and James (Jimmy) Rhoades. Their children blessed them with seven grandchildren, John (Rachele) Barrus, Lisa (Bennie) Moore, Latasha Rhoades, Jason (Celeste) Rush, Carrie (Brant) Bulstrode, Kelly (Josh) Exeter, and Adam (Desiree) Rhoades, all of Idaho Falls. Pauline had a big heart and the kindest soul. She enjoyed meeting people and making them feel at home. She loved telling her grandchildren and great grandchildren about the things she did growing up. One of her favorite things was sharing cookies with her great-great grandson, Dominic Isaac. She was loved by many and will be missed by her family and so many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three children, Paul, Jimmy, and Teresa, and all of her siblings.
