BAILEY IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Pauline Violet Bailey, 89, of Idaho Falls, died March 3, 2002, at Good Samaritan Assisted Living Center of causes incident to age. She was born September 21, 1912, at Lyndon, Vermont, to Albert Austin and Ethyl Farrar Austin. She grew up and attended Newport East and West Vermont schools. At age 10 she went to work in a bakery. She later worked in the textile mills in Vermont. She lived briefly in Maine and New Hampshire before moving to Idaho Falls, then lived in California for five years before returning to Idaho Falls in 1989. She married Joseph William Wood October 31, 1955, at Elko, Nevada. She was a homemaker and mother. She also cooked on a cattle ranch, sheep ranch, and in private homes in Idaho, Montana, Nevada, and Wyoming. He passed away August 17, 1976. She has lived at Good Samaritan Assisted Living Center since 1995. She enjoyed skiing and horseback riding. Two of the highlights of her life were: as a child meeting Theodore Roosevelt at a picnic and shaking hands with him; she later met Hank Williams at a concert in Vermont. Surviving are:Son: William Wood, Westford, VTDaughter: Rita Najera, Sacramento, CASon: Richard Wood, Sacramento, CADaughter: Marjorie Luis, Manchester, NH 4 Grandchildren, 6 Great GrandchildrenShe was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 8, 2002, at Good Samaritan Chapel, 840 East Elva, Idaho Falls. There will be a visitation with friends for one hour prior to the services at the chapel. Burial will be in the Ucon Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, Idaho Falls, Idaho 83402-4092.
