Paul H. Kelly

Paul Hamilton Kelly, 76, of Idaho Falls, passed away on July 8, 2014, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. He had been residing at The Gables of Ammon Assisted Living Center. He was born September 9, 1937, in Sugar City, Idaho to Howard Groesbeck Kelly and Irene Hamilton Kelly. The family moved to St. Anthony and then to Rockford, Idaho where he attended schools and graduated from Snake River High School. He later attended Ricks College in Rexburg. He served in the Northern States LDS Mission before continuing his education at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture Economics. On December 20, 1961, he married Dottie Deanne Packer in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Paul served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. They lived in Texas, California, Italy, The Philippines, and South Dakota before moving to Idaho Falls. He worked as a Life Underwriter and earned his CLU designation as an insurance agent. He also authored a book, COURAGE IN A SEASON OF WAR, with his friend Lin H. Johnson. Paul was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed reading, particularly church and history books; gardening; visiting friends; and serving in the temple for over 20 years. He loved to sing and was blessed with a beautiful baritone voice. Paul especially loved his family and spending time with them. Survivors are: Wife: Deanne Kelly, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Joan (Michael) Cornia, Firth, ID Son: David Kelly, Tucson, AZ Daughter: Kathryn Carmona, Eastchester, NY Daughter: Ruth (Rodney) Tirrell, Idaho Falls, ID Son: Joseph (Annalee) Kelly, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Anne Kelly, Idaho Falls, ID Brother: Robert Kelly, St. George, UT Brother: Arthur Kelly, Jameson, MO Brother: Phil Kelly, Evanston, WY Sister: Susan Nell, West Jordan, UT Sister: Kathleen Kelly, Salt Lake City, UT 21 Grandchildren and 1 great grandchild He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at the Idaho Falls LDS Parley Ward (2055 Coronado). The family will visit with friends on Tuesday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side (963 S. Ammon) and on Wednesday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park with military rites by the Bonneville County Veterans Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
