PAUL ARNSBERGER
IDAHO FALLS, ID --
Paul Reed Arnsberger, 76, died at his home on November 28, 2009, with his wife and family at his side after a courageous battle with cancer.
Paul was born May 25, 1933, at home on Butler’s Island in rural Jefferson County in a big log cabin with a sod roof. He attended Ririe High School. After graduation, he worked on the family farm and was a heavy equipment operator in construction. He joined the United States Air Force and served for four years. Upon his return, he attended Idaho State University. On June 17, 1961, he married Carolyn Sellars in Elko, Nevada.
Paul retired from Argonne National Laboratory in 1994 after 30 years. He made many lifelong friends and had lots of good memories. No one enjoyed retirement more than he did — he could now concentrate full time on woodworking, trading stocks, and relaxing with nature and friends.
Paul was a unique person with varied talents and interests. He had a special love of all things nature: fly fishing, hunting, trapping, photography, bird watching (over 200 species); a childlike appetite for learning and reading; a passion for his music (guitar, violin, piano, singing); he was considered an expert with a flipper by his boyhood friends. Last, but not least, he will be remembered by his family and friends for his love and dedication, especially to his grandchildren, Megan and Bret.
Paul’s family would like to thank all those health care professionals who treated him with dignity and compassion – he commented many times about their friendship and what it meant to him.
Paul is survived by his wife Carolyn Sellars Arnsberger; daughter, Becky (Clay) Elwood; son, Bret Arnsberger, and grandson, Bret Arnsberger, and two sisters, Ruth Wheeler Stone and Nellie Haase Landon. He was preceded in death by his son, Shane Arnsberger, a granddaughter, Megan Arnsberger, and brothers James and Fred.
Paul’s family will honor his request to have no services.

So sorry to hear of your loss. Paul, as you know, was a very special person. I spent many mid shifts with Paul at EBR-II and he taught me lots of stuff not only technical but about life. God bless all of Paul’s family and thank God for Paul’s time on earth.
