Patty Vilate Barnes

Patty Vilate Barnes, 87, of Idaho Falls, passed away August 20, 2022, at her home.

Patty was born November 2, 1934, in Lewiston, Utah, to Ivan Abraham Hodges and Eva Hendricks Hodges. She grew up and attended schools in the Lewiston area and moved to Idaho Falls when she was 13 years old. She attended Central Junior High and one year at Idaho Falls High School. She also attended Excelsis Beauty School.

On November 6, 1953, she married Cliff W Barnes in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Patty and Cliff made their home in Idaho Falls where they raised their family.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was talented in many things, especially crafts. She loved to sew and quilt. She enjoyed spending time in the outdoors camping with family and bird watching. She maintained a beautiful yard and made and collected bird houses. She was nominated for an outstanding yard award and received a visit from Mayor Rebecca Casper.

Patty is survived by her loving children, Kathy Hodson of Idaho Falls, ID, Debra Kay (Gerry) Rouleau of Ammon, ID, and Ronald W (MaryLou) Barnes of Idaho Falls, ID; sisters, Nancy Gay (Zane) Casper of Idaho Falls, ID and Sherry Jean (Curt) Hinman of Cherry Valley, CA; 13 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 14 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Melvin Hodges and Hal Hodges; and granddaughter, Julie Hodson.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 27, 2022, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue. The family will visit with friends from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Burial will be in the Ucon Cemetery.
