Patricia Thorne

PAT THORNE IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Patricia Lee Thorne of Idaho Falls, Idaho, died in her home as she marked her 85th birthday, September 29, 2009. Mrs. Thorne was born September 28, 1924, in York, Pennsylvania to Pauline Kennedy-Waters and was step daughter to Harold Waters. She found life-long enjoyment in her relationship with her sister, June Davis (Bob) of Oakland, California, and their daughter, her niece, Jennifer Clayton, also of California. Pat was known as a big and enthusiastic personality wrapped in a very small package. During her 62 years in Idaho Falls, Pat was active in the B.P.O.E. - Does and St. John's Episcopal Church (now St. Luke's). In support of her four children she was also involved in the Cub Scouts, Boy and Girl Scouts, and the Eastside Elementary School P.T.A. From the beginning to end she was quick-witted, well-informed, and ready to express her opinions or discuss the issue of the day with great fervor. She was an occasional contributor to the Post Register's Letters to the Editor Column and created endearing poems for numerable reasons. Her living legacy includes seven (with an eighth on the way) great-grandchildren: Conlan Herrington; Kadin, Kelcee, Nickolas, and Elizabeth Youngstrom; Josilyn and Abigail Claver; and Dalila Allen; and five grandchildren; Justin and Cristopher Thorne, Brittish Columbia, Canada; Genni (Josh) Youngstrom, Ammon, Idaho; Amanda (Jeremy) Allen, Idaho Falls, Idaho; and Shannon (Luke) Claver, Goldsboro, North Carolina. Pat was mother to Pamela Tucker (Richard) Hailey, Idaho; Richard Thorne (Janet) Salmon Arm, British Columbia; James Thorne (Joyce) Spokane, Washington; and Michael Thorne (Mary Bryce), Federal Way, Washington. Mrs. Thorne was preceded in death by her husband of over forty years, Glen O. Thorne. In honor of their mother, Pat's children cordially invite all of her friends to an Irish memorial on Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at the Elk's Lodge, 640 East Elva Street, Idaho Falls, Idaho, from 5 to 8 p.m. Memories, stories, music, and good cheer will be in plentiful supply. Memorials may be made in Pat's honor to B.P.O.E. - Does or Elks, 640 East Elva, Idaho Falls, ID 83401, the Elk's Rehabilitation Hospital in Boise, Idaho, or to another charity of choice. ---------------------------------------------------- Condolences received online: Brooke Johnson Butler motherbird@cableone.net Genni Youngstrom and family, I am so sorry to hear about that loss of your grandma.
