Patricia (Stoddard) Meyers

Patricia "Trish" Stoddard Meyers returned to her heavenly home on Saturday, February 12, 2022, of a weakened physical heart after open heart surgery nine days prior. As all who knew her can testify, her spiritual heart was strong and exceptionally loving for all 68 years of her mortal life. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her loving husband and children, and while listening to quiet hymns of Godly praise.

Trish was born April 27, 1953, in Delta, Utah, to Stephen Oran and Marilyn Jones Stoddard. She was raised there with her three brothers and two sisters who she loved very much. After her first open heart surgery at age 18 to repair a damaged valve, she felt like she had a "new lease on life." That valve was expected to last 20 years--she was blessed with 50. With her newfound energy, she thrived at Ricks College starting in 1971 and graduated from BYU in 1975 as a Medical Technologist. After some convincing, she also married her handsome sweetheart, Steve, that same year. Together, they moved to Denton, Texas, where Trish worked at a lab and Steve went to medical school in Fort Worth. Children soon came, and life in the Navy moved their family to Oakland, California; Oak Harbor, Washington; Pensacola, Florida; and finally to Idaho Falls, Idaho. She loved her friends wherever she lived and gave them each a special piece of her heart.

More than anything, Trish loved being Mom to five, and their spouses, and Grandma to 23 (with 2 more on the way). She dedicated herself to mothering at home, and taught her children the skills they needed to be successful in life. She stayed close to them through volunteer work at school and activities. As a grandma, she worked countless hours preparing crafts, treats, activities, experiences, and adventures. She lived her life for her posterity, and she will continue to be their ministering angel.

Trish demonstrated her discipleship to Jesus Christ by her daily habits of prayer, service, and reverence for God. She helped build The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through each assignment, but more importantly, through obedience to every prompting of the Holy Spirit to minister to those in need. Her family recalls her excitement to serve in Primary, Cub Scouting, the Relief Society, and for the past eight years as a missionary in the Idaho Falls FamilySearch Library. She hearkened to the prophet's call to help in the gathering of God's children on both sides of the veil.

Trish is survived by her husband of 47 years, Stephen Meyers, of Idaho Falls, Idaho; her children, Brian (Melissa) Meyers of Idaho Falls; Kristi (Adam) Ballif of Rexburg, Idaho; Stacy (Jacob) Yarrington, of Spanish Fork, Utah; Michael (Summer) Meyers and Jonathan (Kalie) Meyers of Cary, North Carolina; her siblings, Stephen Stoddard of Delta, Utah; Debbie (Dick) Shelley of Delta, Utah; Greg (Miki) Stoddard of Centerville, Utah; and Brad (Joy) Stoddard of Provo, Utah.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen Oran and Marilyn Jones Stoddard; her sister, Kathy Smith; and her sister-in-law, Anne Stoddard.
