Patricia Curnutt, 82, of Idaho Falls, passed away June 21, 2015, at Morningstar Assisted Living Center. She was under the care of Aspen Home Health and Hospice.
Pat was born June 7, 1933, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to J. Harrell Bates and Violet Simmons Bates. She grew up and attended Emmerson Elementary, O.E. Bell Jr. High, and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. She also attended the University of Utah.
On December 16, 1953, she married Myrl Arthur “Pete” Curnutt in Idaho Falls. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. To this union were born four children, Pamela, Cathryn, James, and Cara. Pat and Pete made their home in Idaho Falls, where Pat worked as a telephone operator, medical receptionist, and office manager. She was also a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. Pete passed away on January 18, 1998.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings, including Primary, Young Women, Camp Director, Visiting Teacher, Relief Society Instructor, Ward Music Director and Chorister, Temple Worker, and she served a three-year mission with LDS Family Services. She enjoyed singing, animals, children/youth, camping, horseback riding, and playing piano. She had a life-long music career as a vocalist for the Choralaires, traveling to Europe with the Idaho Falls Symphony Chorale, and in 1976, she sang with the Idaho Bicentennial Choir in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Pat is survived by her
daughter, Pamela (Michael) Marley of Ucon, ID;
daughter, Cathryn (Kevin) Hathaway of St. Anthony, ID;
son, James (Judy) Curnutt of Richland, WA;
daughter, Cara (Todd) Havens of Idaho Falls, ID;
22 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J. Harrell and Violet Bates; husband, Pete Curnutt; brothers, Gene, Kent, and Jay Bates; granddaughter, Terrie Marley; and great granddaughters, Lyndsey Elliott and Cathryn (Kate) Clark.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2015, at the Idaho Falls LDS East View Ward, 2349 Virlow Street, with Bishop Brett Memmott of the Kearney 2nd Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue, Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Saturday from 12-12:45 p.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Ucon Cemetery.
The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff at Morningstar Assisted Living Center, Memory Care, and Aspen Home Health and Hospice for the compassionate and tender care of their mother.
