Patricia "Patty" Castaneda

PATTY CASTANEDA IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Patricia Ann “Patty” Wood Castaneda, 51, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 23, 2010, at her home. Patty was born January 25, 1959, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Byron Forest Wood and Mary Caroline Gobble Wood. She grew up and attended schools in the area. She received an Associate Degree in Practical Nursing and worked as a LPN. She was confirmed at Hope Lutheran Church in Idaho Falls. Although she was not active in a church, she remained firm in her beliefs. Patty loved all of her dogs and cats and always took in any stray. She especially enjoyed studying history and LOVED football, especially her New England Patriots and couldn’t understand why pro football wasn’t played all year! Patty loved her family; especially her treasured grandchildren. Her greatest desire was that they learn from her experiences, and not repeat them. She shared a special relationship with her beloved granddaughter, Natalie; a special love that seems to be reserved for grandparents and grandchildren. Although Patty could be a challenge to her family and friends, she always loved them and they her. We will miss her. She is survived by her daughter, Natasha Leigh (Julio) Ortiz, son, A. Ryan (Teena) Castaneda, both of Idaho Falls, her mother and stepfather, M. Caroline (Bob) Edward, of Idaho Falls, her father and stepmother, Byron (Terri) Wood, of Rigby, a sister, Janice C. Wood, of Idaho Falls, Grandfather, Forest W. Wood of Blackfoot, 5 grandchildren, Michelle Lynn Boles, Natalie Leigh Ortiz, Gabriel Cesar Ortiz, Isaac Dominique Ortiz, and Amaya Gloria Castaneda; a stepsister, Mikki Ann Wood of Rigby, a half sister, Elizabeth “Libby” (Travis) Wells of St. George, Utah, a stepbrother, Shane (Tammy) Jorgensen of Tennessee, and a half brother, Byron F “Junior" (Angie) Wood of Idaho Falls. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Jack and Pauline Gobble, paternal grandmother, Helen Wood, two uncles, Kent D. Wood and Cris B. Wood, an aunt, Jennifer C. Clapp, and a stepbrother, Shon Jorgensen. A private gathering for family and close friends will be held Friday, April 30, 2010, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. As per her wishes, Patty will be cremated and her ashes scattered at Pike’s Peak at a later date. Patty and her family request no flowers; except from your garden. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name to the HUMANE SOCIETY OF THE UPPER VALLEY, c/o Andi Elliott, P. O. Box 51021, Idaho Falls, ID 83405, the Snake River Humane Society building fund, or any service dog training organization, would be appreciated. ---------------------------------------------------- Condolences received online: Diane Raines My prayers and thoughts are with you. I will think of Patty everyday. There is a big hole in my heart and I will forever miss her. Corinne Teige minin5453@yahoo.com I want to tell you how sorry I am for your loss. Because the picture may have been taken many years ago I am not entirely sure it is the same Patty Wood who use to take care of my daughter, Molly Falls. I would like to know. I came across a picture of Patty not too long ago when she worked with Molly she had long brown hair. If this is not the same one, my apologies. I am sorry for your loss.
