Pat Stricklan

Violet May "Pat" Stricklan, 81, of Idaho Falls, passed away June 15, 2017, at The Gardens of Rigby. Pat was born March 17, 1936, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Wallace Lemuel Hancock and Violet Mae Hill Hancock. She grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls and Nampa and graduated from Nampa High School. She also attended AGC Craft Training School in Weiser, Idaho, where she received her Operating Engineers Certificate. On January 4, 1964, she married Duane "Smokey" Stricklan in Salmon, Idaho. They were later divorced. Pat worked at Simplot, Kessler Construction, USS Steel, and other heavy construction jobs. She also worked as a custodian at Argonne National Laboratory for 11 years until she retired in 1991. She was a member of O.C.A.W. Union. Violet enjoyed reading, history, politics and her family. She was a strong Christian woman and servant of the Lord. Her gift was loving and caring for others, especially the children in her extended family. She was loved dearly and will be missed by all. Her family praises God that she has been promoted to Glory. Violet is survived by sisters, Bonnie G. Johnson of Boise, ID, and Julie A. (Gary) Irving of Idaho Falls, ID. Pat mothered many family members including her nieces, Lisa DeFruscio of Boise, ID, Rebecca Swanson of Idaho Falls, ID, Jackie (Jess) Johnson of St. Charles, ID, Vicki (Brad Sittner) Hancock of Brigham City, UT, Julie Watts of Idaho Falls, ID; nephews, Steve Swanson and Jason Andrews of Idaho Falls, ID, Jerry (Mary) Hancock of Spirit Lake, ID, as well as great nieces and nephews, Daniel Johnson of Boise, ID, Matthew Irigoyen, Jon Irigoyen, James Irigoyen, Steven Swanson Jr., and Naomi Swanson, all of Idaho Falls, ID, and Christian Andrews of Lewiston, ID. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Wallace L. Hancock, Ronald V. Hancock, and Steven P. Zimmerman. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Rose Hill Cemetery.
