Pamela Butler Nelson, 73, of Idaho Falls, passed away July 23, 2023, at her home. She was under the care of her loving family and Brio Home Health and Hospice.
Pam was born on September 17, 1949, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Buck Butler and Violet Ockerman Butler. Pam was the middle child of five daughters. She grew up in Iona and attended grade school in Iona and graduated from Bonneville High School. She loved spending time at the Bone, Idaho, family ranch. There she spent all of her summers helping her parents with riding, roping, working round-ups, and fixing fence.
She married Tyler “Tobe” Nelson November 28, 1974, at The Bone Store in Bone, Idaho. Their son, Cannon “Buck” Nelson, was born September 13, 1979. Pam and Tyler were later divorced.
Pam and Buck made their home in Ucon, Idaho. Pam started her working career at the Bank of Commerce in Idaho Falls. She then went to work for the City of Idaho Falls as a secretary for the Public Works Department, then later transferred into the Payroll Department where she retired in 2012.
She was the absolute best Grandma! She loved spending time with and spoiling her grandkids. She would try to attend all of their school and sporting events.
Pam is survived by her son, Buck (Shannon) and grandchildren: Cadon, Raegon, and Brynlon Nelson of Rigby, ID; sister, Saundra (Walt) Zarella of Palm Desert, CA; sister, Linda Butler of Idaho Falls; sister, Tana (Rick) Passey of Idaho Falls; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Buck and Violet Butler, and sister, Ronda Butler.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, August 4, 2023, at The Brickyard Event Center, 1025 S. Ammon Road.
