Orvil DeVearl Nish, 95, of Idaho Falls, passed away February 13, 2026, at his home. He was under the care of Brio Home Health and Hospice and his loving family.
Orvil was born June 18, 1930, in Plymouth, Utah, to Orvil James Nish and Retta La Von Heusser Nish. He grew up and attended schools in Plymouth and graduated from Bear River High School. He also attended Utah State. He joined the Utah National Guard and served in the Korean War.
On March 19, 1956, he married Margene Ball Nish in Elko, Nevada. Orvil and Margene made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Orvil worked at Morrison & Knutsen Mining in phosphate mining before working as a salesman for Farr's Candy Company for almost forty years.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved flying. He was a pilot and owned his own plane. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, and he went to Arizona every winter.
Orvil is survived by his wife, Margene Nish of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Sheila (Robert) Linger of Terreton, ID; son, Jerry Brent (Bronica) Baker of Clayton, ID; sister, MarJean Macfarlane; sister, LaRita Udy; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Orvil James Nish; mother, Retta La Von Nish; daughter, Brenda Ficklin; sister, Joan Udy; sister, KaraLee Mirhosseini; and son, Doug Nish.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, February 20, 2026, at Ammon Cemetery, 5226 East Sunnyside Road.
