ORVIL W BIRD
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Orvil W Bird, 86, of Idaho Falls, died March 15, 2003, at the Idaho Falls Care Center.
He was born September 29, 1916, at Teton City, Idaho, to Jonathan Freeman Bird and Hannah Agnes Willey Bird. He grew up and attended schools in the area. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II as a member of the Military Police.
On May 17, 1940, he married Fay Warr in Ammon. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on April 25, 1956. He worked at Old Faithful Beverage Company and as a Farm Machinery Painter for Snake River Equipment Company from which he retired. He also worked part-time as a Parts Chaser for Oden Motor.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was a High Priest and served as a scout leader. He enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting and was skilled in tying flies and making hunting knives and walking sticks. In his younger years, he was a trapper. Surviving are:Wife: Fay Bird, Idaho Falls, IDDaughter: Carole (Gary) Howell, Idaho Falls, IDDaughter: Joyce (Terry) Jorgensen, Idaho Falls, IDDaughter: Nancy (Jody) Hansen, Idaho Falls, IDDaughter: Diane (Kerry) Hansen, Idaho Falls, ID20 Grandchildren and 37 Great Grandchildren.He was preceded in death by a son, Glenn; three brothers; six sisters; and two grandchildren, Scott and Greg Jorgensen.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge Avenue), with Bishop Jeffrey Stark of the Idaho Falls LDS Rose Park Ward officiating. The family will meet with friends for one hour prior to the services at Wood Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Ammon Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team.
