MARTY NELSON IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Olive “Marty” Mortensen Nelson, 92, of Idaho Falls, died August 4, 2005, at the Syringa Home of causes incident to age. She was under the care of Aspen Home Health & Hospice. She was born September 25, 1912, in Preston, Idaho, to Andrew Daniel Mortensen and Christina Gregersen Mortensen. She grew up and attended schools in Preston, where she graduated from Preston High School. She also graduated from the Idaho Falls LDS Hospital School of Nursing. She married Dale E. Nelson May 4, 1935, in Idaho Falls. Their marriage was solemnized July 10, 1987, in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple. They made their home in Idaho Falls, where she was a homemaker and mother and worked as a registered nurse at LDS and Sacred Heart Hospitals. She lived in Dillon, Montana, for a short time, and in Idaho Falls for 57 years. Dale passed away May 4, 1997. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Primary organization for many years. She loved the gospel of Jesus Christ, was a great seamstress, and loved to make cheesecakes and cookies for those she loved. Surviving are: Son: Donald R. (Meryl) Nelson of Iona, ID Daughter: Deanna (Robert) Judd of Eugene, OR Brother: Ralph (Beverly) Mortensen of Preston, ID Brother: Steven (Verneal) Mortensen of Meridian, ID Sister: Nona (Melvin) Hansen of Monroe, UT 11 Grandchildren, 26 Great Grandchildren, and 2 Great Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale, and a son, William Nelson. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2005, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, with Bishop Nathan Smith of the Idaho Falls LDS 3rd Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends Tuesday for one hour prior to the services at Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Preston Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home. _____________________________________ Condolences sent: Norma Roberts (mandnroberts@hotmail.com) I was privileged to work with Marty in the 3rd Ward. We taught the Sunbeams in Primary and had a large class of 4 year old children. We also went Visiting Teaching together. She shared with me the experiences of her life. She was a loving lady and I appreciate the opportunity I had to know her and share a part of her life.
