Norman Serigstad

NORMAN SERIGSTAD IDAHO FALLS, ID - Norman R. Serigstad, 92, of Idaho Falls, died peacefully November 9, 2005, at Life Care Center in Idaho Falls surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 3, 1913, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Sven and Gitlaug Serigstad who immigrated from Norway. He attended schools in Minneapolis, graduating from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a member of the Lutheran Church. He also belonged to the Elks Lodge. In 1943 he married Virginia in Hollywood, California. They have two children. During World War II he worked in defense for Douglas Aircraft in Santa Monica, California, until he was transferred to Charlotte, North Carolina, where Douglas Aircraft produced Nike missiles during the cold war. He was transferred to Sacramento, California, and then back to Huntington Beach, California, where he retired. He had a second career with Housing and Urban Development as a building inspector in Los Angeles, California, and retired again. He and his wife enjoyed traveling in their motor home and taking cruises to various countries. They moved to Idaho Falls to be near their daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed golfing. He and his wife golfed all over the world. He was a kind and gentle person, well-liked by all who knew him. He patiently played “Go Fish” with all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He always lived by “The Golden Rule.” Survivors are: Wife, Virginia Serigstad, Idaho Falls, Daughter, Christina A. (Bob) Hanson, Idaho Falls, Son, Jon N. (Nancy) Serigstad, Aptos, CA, 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, Sister, Eleanor M. Walters, Idaho Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister. Private Memorial Services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Wood East Side Chapel.
