Our Mother, Norma Mae Hunt Ryner, 85 years old, of Idaho Falls, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2013, at the Idaho Falls Good Samaritan Village, her sixteen year courageous battle with Alzheimer's now behind her.
She was born October 4, 1927 in St. Anthony, Idaho, daughter of John Ray Hunt and Sarah Pearl Mullinnex Hunt. Her parents moved to Idaho Falls when she was five years old where she was raised, went to schools, married, raised her family.
On November 16, 1944, she married Eldon Clifford Ryner in Idaho Falls at the courthouse. Their marriage was solemnized and they were sealed for time and all eternity June 28, 1988 in the Idaho Falls Temple.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in many positions in the church including Primary teacher, Cub Scouts leader, and in Relief Society.
Norma believed that her family was the very core that made her the happiest. Among her many talents were keeping a clean home; and being a great cook, baker, and candy maker. She enjoyed painting with acrylic paints and traveling occasionally on a long haul run with her husband and son. After she retired she and her husband became snowbirds traveling to Mexico and Arizona.
Norma worked at the LDS hospital in the kitchen then later as a typist typing doctor’s notes and orders from a dictation machine. She worked at the Sacred Heart Hospital as a housekeeper. She took a course at Idaho Vo-tech to become a nurse's aid. She became a skilled and loving care giver and worked for Good Samaritan. Norma enjoyed working with the elderly. She was known for her warm, loving, giving spirit, and for always going the extra mile. The last five years she worked, she had her own business, Ryner Shelter Home for The Elderly. She retired in 1987.
Survivors include: daughter, Linda (Dennis) Neddo of Idaho Falls, ID; sons, Larry Eldon (Diane) Ryner of Moreland, ID, and Clifford "Ray" (Brenna) Ryner of Idaho Falls, ID; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Norma was preceded in death by her sweetheart, Eldon Ryner; her parents; her sisters, Ruby and Melva; and her brothers, Vernal, Doyle, and Darrel.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 22, 2013, at the Idaho Falls LDS 14th Ward (651 Gladstone) with Bishop Blaine Eborn officiating. The family will meet with family and friends for one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Ucon Cemetery. Following the services the family invites family and friends to the church for a luncheon and one more moment of love and appreciation.
The family would like to thank the Good-Samaritan staff who have given love and care for the past 11 years to our Mother.
