Norma Lou Irish Birch, 82, of Ammon, passed away July 13, 2011, at Bonaventure of Idaho Falls. She was born October 30, 1928, in Marmarth, North Dakota, to Arleynn Day Irish and Ida Evelyn Hosman Irish. She graduated from high school in Saco, Montana, and attended beauty school in Salt Lake City, Utah. She married Oscar Robinson Birch. They made their home in Idaho Falls, where they raised their three sons. Norma worked as a self-employed seamstress. After retirement, she and Oscar lived in St. George, Utah. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Norma was a very accomplished equestrian and was an endurance rider. By the time she was 75 years old, she had ridden over 10,000 miles. She loved her horses. Survivors include: Husband: Oscar “Bud” Birch of Ammon, Idaho Son: Richard Birch of Idaho Falls, Idaho Son: Craig (Heidi) Birch of Hamilton, Montana Son: Gary Birch of Idaho Falls, Idaho Eight grandchildren and many great grandchildren Brother: Arlynn Irish of Mile City, Montana Sister: Gayle Wolz of Ammon, Idaho Sister: Shelley Romo of Glascow, Montana She was preceded in death by her brother, Les Irish; and an infant sister, Sharon. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2011, at the Ammon Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road.
