She was born November 20, 1924, in Ririe, Idaho. She was the ninth and youngest child of Jonas Sinclair Heaton and Annie Jane Harris Heaton. Orphaned at the age of six, Norene was raised by loving brothers and sisters who affectionately called her Nonie. She attended schools in Idaho Falls, Idaho; Los Angeles, California; and Ririe, Idaho. She graduated from Ririe High School in May, 1942. On June 24, 1942, she married her high school sweetheart, Allen Dixon, in the LDS Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah. During World War II, while her husband served in the U.S. Army for three years, Norene lived in Ogden, Utah. Norene and Allen later made their home in Ririe for five years, Rigby for 42 years, and Idaho Falls for 13 years. Norene owned and operated a beauty salon in Rigby until she retired in 1982. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served as Primary President for many years.
