Nellie Rae (Hyde) Balls

Nellie Rae Hyde Balls, 79, of Idaho Falls, passed away October 24, 2024, at her home with her husband and loving family at her side. She was under the care of Enhabit Home Health and Hospice.

Nellie was born January 13, 1945, in Ogden, Utah, to William Wray Hyde and Vera Viella Odd Hyde. She grew up and attended schools in Kaysville, Utah, and graduated from Davis High School.

On November 6, 1964, she married Eugene E. Balls, the love of her life, in Kaysville, Utah. Nellie and Eugene made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Nellie worked at Good Samaritan.

Nellie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in Primary and especially loved serving in the nursery. She enjoyed crocheting, fishing, camping, and spending time with her family.

Nellie is survived by her husband, Eugene E. Balls of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Nellie (Bruce A.) Boyd of Taylorsville, UT; daughter, Vera L. (George) Lester of Buckeye, AZ; daughter, Teresa A. Hunting (Brett) of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Tracy E. (Amy Sue) Erwin of Pisquah, NC; daughter, Cheryl L. (John) Yearsley of Shelley, ID; daughter, Suzanne K. (Chris Quick) Robb of Ammon, ID; daughter, Lelia F. (Chris) Genakos of Virginia Beach, VA; brother, William W. Hyde of Saint George, UT; brother-in-law, Jay Balls of Idaho Falls, ID; brother-in-law, Martin (Robbie) Romero; stepbrother, Wayne (Margie) Warner of Tremonton, UT; stepsister, Jolene (Gary) Kimball of CO; 28 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, W. Wray and Vera Hyde; sister, Georgina Romero; step-mother, Serena Hyde; sister-in-law, Elenore Thompson; brother-in-law, Thomas E. Balls; sister-in-law, Judy Walker; sister-in-law, Mary Hyde; and father and mother-in-law, Thomas and Faye Balls.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2024, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends from 11-11:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Aberdeen Cemetery.
