Nelda Swearingen

Nelda Faye Clements Swearingen, 85, of Basalt, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2013, at The Gables of Ammon. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Jim Swearingen, daughter Glenda Swearingen, and son Rodney Swearingen. Nelda was born January 16, 1928, in Idaho Falls, ID, to Elias G. Clements and Harriet A. Albright Clements. She grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls. On August 3, 1944, she married Jim Cecil Swearingen at Idaho Falls, Idaho. Nelda and Jim made their home in Basalt, Idaho. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Nelda was a devoted wife and mother. She spent her years loving, nurturing, and raising her children. They were her greatest joy. She also enjoyed reading and crocheting dish rags. Nelda called the Gables of Ammon her home for the last year and a half where she made good friends, played bingo, and was very happy. We would like to extend a big thanks to Lola Swearingen, family and friend. Nelda thought the world of her, as do the rest of the family. She was there all the time. Nelda is survived by Daughter, Anonna LaRae Sargent of AZ; Son, James Bryan (Shirley) Swearingen of Caldwell. ID; Daughter, Terry Faye Hastings of Basalt, ID; Son, Dwayne Elias (Carol) Swearingen of Shelley, ID; Son, Michael Lyndon Swearingen of Idaho Falls, ID; Daughter, Shauna Lucile (Larry) Justesen of Basalt, ID; Brother, Gomer Lyndon Clements; Brother, Gaylord Gwene Lake; Sister, Dona Luan Jensen; Sister, Carol LaRae Hemming; 19 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Rodney and infant daughter Glenda, and her brother Glenn. Services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, November 4, 2013, at Rose Hill Cemetery, 2355 Rollandet, with Bishop Guy Barrus officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
