Click Here To View Memorial Video Nancy Alice Minnerly McLain, 71, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away unexpectedly October 9, 2014, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Nancy was born at Vasser Hospital in Poughkeepsie, New York, November 19, 1942, to Robert Charles Minnerly and Edith Viola Minnerly. As a child, Nancy enjoyed spending her summers on her grandparents’ farm riding horses. She was the eldest of four children. She graduated from Rogers High School in Newport, Rhode Island, in 1960, and went on to become a successful Executive Administrative Assistant until her retirement in 1999. She met the love of her life, Maurice (Mac) McLain in October of 1966, and they wed January 14, 1967. Their marriage united a progeny of four children. During the 1970s, her extracurricular activities outside of work included her dedication to the military, which included, to her, the highest honor, being selected the Atlantic Fleet Navy Wife of the Year, Ombudswoman of a Navy Squadron, President of the CPO Wives Club, Navy Relief and Navy Thrift Shop volunteer; loyalty to the Girl Scouts of America (including Troop Leader for many years as well as Chairman of Middletown, Rhode Island, Girl Scouts. Additionally, she was a Sunday School Teacher at the local church for many years. Nancy was a very dedicated and proud Navy wife while her “Mac” served in the United States Navy as Master Chief Petty Officer. Upon their retirement, she and Mac spent their senior years traveling across the United States in their Fifth Wheel and spending summers at their beloved cabin. Her favorite hobbies were reading, doing crossword puzzles, crocheting, crafts, bingo, shopping, visiting friends and family, bragging about her grandchildren, and lounging at the cabin. She was also a passionate animal lover. Nancy is survived by her brothers, Buddy, Jerry (Nadine), Dennis (Amalia); her children, Terri, Michael (Vicki), Ken, and Tina; her grandchildren, Derek, Hayley, Ian, Kolby, and Kaitlyn; and her lifelong best friends and “partners in crime,” Dale (Bev) Daly and Betty (Jack) Ringquist. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue. The family will gather with close friends and family from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Wood Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Snake River Animal Shelter, 151 N. Ridge Avenue #250, Idaho Falls, Idaho, in the name of Nancy McLain.
