NANCY C. EMPEY
IDAHO FALLS, ID - Nancy Cassie Gerrard Empey, 76, of
Idaho Falls, died October 20, 2003, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical
Center.
She was born May 22, 1927 at Salt Lake City, Utah to
Samuel and Cassie Gerrard. She grew up and attended schools in the area.
After high school, she moved to Rosa, California and worked as a telephone
operator during World War II. She later moved back to Salt Lake where
she worked as a Nurse's Aide at a local hospital.
On May 14, 1949, she married Wayne John Empey at Ammon.
Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. In
1950, they moved to Idaho Falls, where she has since resided. She sang
with the Choralaires and belonged to the Idaho Falls Music Club. She also
assisted with elections on Election Day at Lincoln Court.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints serving as a Sunday School Teacher and as Ward Dance Director with
her husband. She enjoyed square dancing, reading, and listening to music.

Daughter: Kathleen (Jack) Gaskill, Idaho Falls, ID
Daughter: Cheryl Empey, Idaho Falls, ID
Son: Robert (Marlene) Empey, Idaho Falls, ID
Sister: Beth (Emanuel) Kerbs, Idaho Falls, ID
6 Grandchildren and 1 Great Grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother, Leo Gerrard.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October
25, 2003, at Wood East Side Chapel (963 S. Ammon). The family will meet
with friends for one hour prior to the services.
Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park under the direction
of Wood Funeral Home East Side.
