Nadine Smith Marler, 85, of Idaho Falls, died Monday, February 4, 2013, after a brief illness.
Nadine was born January 7, 1928 in Montpelier, Idaho to Edward LeRoy and Gladys Comstock Smith. She was the second of three children and the only daughter. Nadine spent her early years in Montpelier, moving to Lima, Montana at the age of 8.
She married her childhood sweetheart, Kenneth H. Marler, on October 7, 1946. She later graduated from Lima High School in 1947. Kens job with the Union Pacific Railroad relocated them to Idaho Falls in 1978. Nadine managed the bridal department at The Party Shop for a few years. Nadine had a beautiful singing voice and performed with the Idaho Falls Choralaires for several years.
Nadine was a gentle woman who loved painting, cooking, sewing and doing needle work. She was a member of Pythian Sisters, Neighbors of Woodcraft and Order of The Eastern Star. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother.
Survivors include her Daughter: Karen (Joe) Shragge of Salt Lake City, Utah;
Son: Loran (Carmen) Marler of Idaho Falls, ID;
Son: Eric Marler of Missoula, MT;
Grandchildren: Crystal Elliston, Rob Shragge, Jennifer (Adam) Duagaard, David Shragge, Nicole (Dave) Johnston, Mary Shragge, Jack (Claire) Shragge and Chris Marler;
nine great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and her loving pet, Harley the cat.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ken, brothers; Ken and Art Smith, and a great-grandson Sean.
A gathering for friends and family will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Wood East Side (963 S. Ammon Road). The life sketch will be read at 3:00 p.m.
