Myrt Ludlow

Myrt Lindsay Ludlow age 86, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, our loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend to many passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, February 15, 2017.

Myrt was born on September 28, 1930, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Charles Ira and Nellie Nebeker Lindsay. She was the baby – with 10 children in the family. Myrt's mother passed away at an early age. Mom was only 6 years old.

Myrt and her siblings grew up learning how to cook, clean, milk cows, work in the potato fields, and do other manual labor on the farm where she grew up. This was hard work, but they never complained.

Growing up without a mother made Myrt and her siblings very self -sufficient. Mom was a great cook, who prepared wonderful meals – including a "World Famous" chocolate cake and apple pie!

On April 28, 1950, Mom was married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple to the love of her life, Kenneth Ludlow.

This union produced 4 children: Kris, Kathy, Laura, & Eric.

After her children were born, and Eric still a baby – Mom went through nurse's training, becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1963.

Mom worked at the LDS Hospital, overlooking the Falls, from 1963 until her retirement in 1985. She was everyone's favorite nurse, as she was a great care-giver. Mom knew everyone, and everyone knew her!

Myrt was always the life of the party! She enjoyed having her family around, and she was always making us laugh! She lived life to the fullest, and she packed in as much fun in her life that she could. Mom had a great testimony of the Gospel, and she served the Lord in many capacities, including Stake Relief Society President, and Relief Society President, Young Women's President, and Primary President in the 18th Ward. She and Dad diligently served as LDS Missionaries in the Spanish Extraction Program and also Family History Missionaries. They also worked in the Idaho Falls Temple. Mom's health faded the last few years of her life. However, she never complained, and she always made people believe that everything was all right. She placed other's needs above her own. During this time, there were many health care providers who gave such kind and caring attention to Mom. We want to thank them for their compassionate service. Myrt is preceded in death by her father & mother, Ira and Nellie. Also, her siblings, Jim, Bud, Emma, Betty, Ella & Zella (Twins), and Ray & Faye (Twins). She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Kenneth Ludlow. Kristine Ludlow Jensen (Denis) of Idaho Falls; Kathy Ludlow Schofield (Monte) of Boise; Laura Ludlow Manning (Larry) of Missoula, Montana; & Eric Ludlow (Phoebe) of St. George, Utah. She has 16 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren, with four more on the way. Myrt is also survived by her sister, Norma Lindsay Trost.
