He was 77 years old. He was preceded in death by his first born infant son, Darrel Dee Johnson, his brother, Doyle Johnson, his mother, Katherine Covert Johnson, father, George D. Johnson and his stepmother, Ella C. Luthi Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Johnson, and four children; Kelle Gene Johnson, Dennis Bruce Johnson, Suzanne Galloway, and Kathleen Wilkins. He has 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a true devoted husband who loved his wife very much. He was the type of father that you knew you could always depend on, he had an uncanny way of knowing when his children were in trouble and being there for them. His wife and children knew he would give them anything they needed if he could. He grew up on a farm in Etna, Wyoming, with his eight brothers and sisters. He enjoyed feeding the Elk in Wyoming and would occasionally jump on the back of one and take a wild ride. He had a deep love for nature, fishing, hunting and camping. He joined the navy at the young age of 17 and served 2 years in the service of his country during WWII. On March 12, 1951, he married the sweetest woman in the world, Wanda. They lived in various areas in Wyoming, then settled in the home he built himself in Lincoln, Idaho where they lived for 50 years and raised their four children. He also took good care of any neighbor in need, and was the irrigation coordinator for his neighborhood. After marrying Wanda he worked for various construction companies, he even helped to build the Palisades Dam. He soon found a career in tile setting, which he loved very much. He had great pride in his work, which he did most excellently, he was a perfectionist. Some of the tile setting projects he was most proud of were; a sun dial in the Blackfoot Idaho Tribal Council building, the Utah State capital building, the Idaho Falls LDS Temple and the Salt Palace. He was a tile setter for 30 years. Later in life he worked for School District 93 and the Pillsbury Company. He was a very honest, hardworking man, he retired in 1990. After retiring he continued to enjoy spending time with his wife, gardening and puttering around the shop. He grew to have a deep love for flowers, enjoyed buying fish for his aquarium and taking care of his rabbit, Bugsy. He was one of the last good old boys. His wife and children knew they were loved by him. Services for Hop will be Saturday at the Lincoln 1st Ward building at 3700 Lincoln Road, viewing will start at 10 a.m., with services starting at 11a.m. Burial will be in the Iona Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
