Misao Shiratori Haga, 86, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully December 3, 2010 at Parkwood Meadows Assisted Living. She was under the care of Creekside Hospice. Misao was born September 29, 1924 in Rexburg, Idaho to Tsunesaki Shiratori and Tomi Hagihara Shiratori. She grew up and attended schools in Rexburg and graduated from Madison High School. After leaving Rexburg at the age of 19, she moved to the Ucon area. On April 2, 1944 she married Takeo Haga at Trinity United Methodist Church in Idaho Falls and they raised four children together. In 1957, they moved to Idaho Falls. Misao was active as a den mother, a member of the Japanese American Citizens League, in the PTA, and was a successful businesswoman. She was an active member of Trinity United Methodist church, where she taught Sunday school, was a counselor for the Methodist Youth Fellowship Group, and participated in the Methodist’s Women Circle. Misa was known by word-of-mouth and later, well-0rmembered for her aquarium shop which she operated for several years. Throughout her life, Misa was a very creative person and applied her creativity in her dancing, sewing, cooking, poetry, writing, painting, and especially her gardening. She enjoyed reading to continue to learn about her many hobbies. One of the things she loved best were summer outings where she would pick huckleberries with her family. Survivors include her daughters Peggy (Michael) Hankins of Idaho Falls, ID; and Carol (Don) Troyer of Alhambra, CA; her sons Roger (Merilee) Haga of Idaho Falls, ID, and Mark Haga of Spokane, WA, brothers Tatsuji (Elaine) Shiratori, Seiji (Linda) Shiratori; and sisters Teruko “Helen” Shiozawa, Aiko Shikashio, Miyoko “Mimi” Akiyama, Harue (Bill) Kaufman, Chitosye “Chi” Chun, and Nori Shiratori. She is also survived by 8 Grandchildren & 12 Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Takeo, her sisters Kiyoko “Kay” Minigawa, Michiko Nii, Yuriko Tamara, and granddaughter, Alicia Haga. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 11, 2010, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 237 North Water Avenue, with Pastor Brenda Sene officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at Wood Funeral Home (273 North Ridge Avenue) and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery on Saturday, May 21, 2011.
