Miriam “Mimi” Ailene Morgan, 91, of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2014.
Mimi was born May 2, 1923, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Benjamin Rose and Myrtle Jones Rose. She grew up and attended schools in Salt Lake, and graduated from East High. She also attended the University of Utah where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching. She was a marvelous teacher and mother. She has left a legacy that has benefitted her students, and especially her children.
On March 27, 1944, she married Joseph Edward Morgan Jr., a World War II Naval Aviator, in Florida. To this union were born three children, Raymond, Scott, and Denise. The family moved to Farmington, Utah, in 1958, where Mimi taught in the Davis County school system until 1965. They moved to Salt Lake City where she taught in the Granite District, and she finally returned to the Davis District and worked there until she retired in 1985. Joseph passed away on January 23, 1986.
In 1988 she married Carl Duren, and they enjoyed their time together until he passed away in 2002.
Ray, June, Denise, and Scott shared the opportunity of having their mom live with them until they were no longer able to meet her needs. At that time she moved to Idaho where she could be closer to her loving daughter.
Mimi is survived by her son, Raymond Kent (June) Morgan; son, Scott Craig Morgan of Holiday, UT; daughter, Denise Morton of Idaho Falls, ID; and seven grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Joseph Edward Morgan Jr.; father, Benjamin Rose; mother, Myrtle Rose; sister, Karen Gillespie; and her second husband, Carl Duren.
