Click Here To View an Interview with Minnie in 2014 On April 23, 2015, our beautiful mother, grandmother, and dearest friend left us to return to her Heavenly Father and waiting family that has gone before. Minnie Calkins Poorman Fowler, 100, of Idaho Falls, passed away at Promontory Point Rehabilitation. Minnie was born October 14, 1914, in Meadowville, Idaho, to Orson Booker Calkins and Elizabeth Mary Owens Calkins. She graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1932. On November 7, 1933, she married Leon Bancroft Poorman in Idaho Falls. He died March 12, 1975. On May 8, 1976, she married John Leland Fowler (deceased) in Idaho Falls. She spent nine years employed by Safeway Grocery and fourteen years employed by the City of Idaho Falls, utility division. She retired in 1976. She has three daughters, Joan (Lamar, deceased) Fowler of Idaho Falls, Ruth (Richard) Poole of Ammon, and Jeanette (Jack, deceased) Heffling of Kennewick, Washington; and two sons, Dennis Poorman of Idaho Falls, and Douglas E. Poorman (deceased). From her second marriage, there were four stepchildren, Maxine (George) Baker of Boise, Connie Campbell (deceased), Sharon (Charlie, deceased) Roos of Idaho Falls, and John (Pat) Fowler of American Falls, Idaho. She had 20 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, 52 great-great-grandchildren, 23 step-grandchildren, 52 step-great-grandchildren, and 24 step-great-great-grandchildren. Over the years, she held many church positions and was a faithful temple attendee. She enjoyed fishing, camping, quilting, gardening, and most of all, spending time with her family. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 27, 2015, at the Idaho Falls LDS Taylor Crossing Ward, 2040 Brentwood Drive, with Bishop Matthew Gardels officiating. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, and Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the LDS Church Humanitarian Fund, LDS Philanthropies, 1450 N. University Avenue, Provo, UT 84604.

Monday April 27, 2015 , 11:00 a.m. at Idaho Falls LDS Taylor Crossing Ward

The family will visit with friends Sunday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge Ave.) and Monday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
