Miria (Millie) TeRauhina Rogers TeNgaio 93, of Idaho Falls, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls. Millie was born March 16, 1920, in Torere, Opotiki, New Zealand, to William Rogers and Kenehia Rewi Rogers. She was the youngest of eight children. At the tender age of sixteen she married Joseph Runga TeNgaio. In the spring of 1938 their marriage was solemnized in the LDS Temple in Laie, Hawaii. They raised two children, Elaine Harata TeNgaio Marsh and Tyrone (Ty) Kingi TeNgaio. In 1953 Millie and Joe were called on a Labor Mission to help with the building of the Church College of New Zealand and the New Zealand LDS Temple. When the N.Z. Temple was completed they were called to serve another mission as Temple Custodians and Ordinance workers. Then in July of 1963 they were called on another LDS mission to Laie, Hawaii. They were the first Directors of the Maori Village at the Polynesian Cultural Center. They remained at the PCC until 1969. A total of 16 years was spent as LDS Missionaries, serving the Lord and as Millie said: "I loved every minute of it and would not change it for anything in the world." In April, 2003 she moved from Laie, Hawaii to Idaho Falls, Idaho to live with her son Ty and his wife Mary. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, a son, William Rogers TeNgaio (died at birth); her husband, Joseph; grand children Minola Marsh, Kenneth Rogers TeNgaio, Miria (Missey) Marsh Killpack; and her daughter-in-law, Mary Jeanne Whittington TeNgaio Survivors include her daughter Elaine Harata Marsh of Dannevirke, New Zealand; son Ty Kingi TeNgaio of Idaho Falls, Idaho; 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 15 great, great grand children. The family of Millie TeNgaio would like to thank Dr. Teresa Johnson and the nursing staff on the 5th floor at EIRMC for the loving care of our mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, March 30th. at the LDS 31st. Ward - 1165 Azalea Dr. Idaho Falls. Viewing will be at 10:00am to 10:45am.
