Mildred Edith Keller, 90, of Idaho Falls, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013 in Idaho Falls of natural causes.
She was born July 5, 1923 to Archie Ray Sorensen and Edith Christine Bergman Sorensen in Provo, Utah. She was raised in Provo, Utah graduating from Provo High School. She was active in softball and tennis. She played tennis up into her seventies.
After graduating from high school, Mildred went to work for Hill Air Force Base where she met her first husband, Earl Passino. Earl and Mildred had three children, and lived around the country while he served in the Air Force. They divorced in 1956.
Mildred moved to Idaho Falls in 1951 to be close to her mother and brother’s family and raise her children. She met Carl Keller and they were married September 30, 1961. They continued to live in Idaho Falls and surrounding areas while he farmed on the west side of town. Carl brought 3 children into the marriage whom she thought of as her own, and they loved her, too. Carl and Mildred had a daughter, Kellee. Carl passed away in May of 1995.
She worked for Montgomery Ward, and then the Credit Bureau of Idaho Falls. She also worked through the years for School District 91 and the Shelley School District.
Mildred was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in the Relief Society, Primary, and Young Women organization. She was loved by all she served and with whom she served.
She is survived by her children:
Daughter: Alexis (Parley) Winger of Winterville, Georgia;
Daughter-in-law: Marsha Passino of Shelley, Idaho;
Daughter-in-law: Debra Passino of Idaho Falls, Idaho;
Daughter: Kellee (Joseph) Cox of Idaho Falls, Idaho;
Daughter: Roberta (Jack) Grover of Shelley, Idaho;
Son: Carl (Linda) Keller, Jr. of Carson City, Nevada;
Daughter: Danice (Gary) Tolle of Summerville, South Carolina.
21 grandchildren, 35 great grand children, and several great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, sons Allen and Anthony Passino;
sister Catherine Bagenstos, and brothers Archie, Keith and Chris Sorensen.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, Idaho Falls, with Bishop Todd Shepherd of the Idaho Falls Pioneer Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the New Sweden Cemetery.
