Mildred Anderson

IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Mildred Louise Anderson passed away peacefully on July 20, 2010, at the Idaho Falls Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born September 23, 1925, in Portland, Oregon, to Chester Frederick Anderson and Ella Verna Reid Anderson. Her brother, Reid Anderson, was six years older. At a young age, Mildred moved with her family to Pullman, Washington, where her parents became aware she was a special child with special needs, which were met with love, support, and special schooling. She was a happy, cooperative child and not only learned to read and write, sew, cook, knit, and play the guitar, but also became an expert bowler, golfer, and fisherwoman. She took Wii bowling and bingo very seriously in her later years. She had a strong handshake that was her trademark. She loved sports and many teams, but favored the Washington State University Cougars, remembering coaches, players, and scores from many years ago. She was an active member of the Methodist Church in Pullman, enjoying many church activities. She was a member of Christ Community Church in Idaho Falls. In the 1960's, Mildred moved to Idaho Falls with her dad to be closer to her brother's family. Mildred was not one to complain or be critical of anyone or anything. She had a great sense of humor and a contagious laugh, and could always find something to compliment or say something nice to others. She didn't like to miss Christian Woman's Club and was always ready to go and do anything. She had a deep love for raccoons and had names for all of her stuffed animals. She was a joy and a delight and will be missed. We are thankful to have had her inspiration and love. Mildred's parents and brother preceded her in death. She is survived by five nephews, Robert (Susan) Anderson, David (Lee) Anderson, William (Kathy) Anderson, Frederick (Kim) Anderson, and Thomas (Lisa) Anderson, and one niece, Donna Hiller; 17 great nieces and nephews and 8 great, great nieces and nephews, and a sister-in-law, Louise Baker. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Reid Hogan Anderson. The family wishes to extend our heartfelt gratitude for the excellent care given to Mildred by her care providers and her many friends. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 24, 2010, at Christ Community Church, 5742 South 5th West (Park Road) in Idaho Falls. The family would enjoy meeting with friends one hour prior to the services at the church. The family suggests contributions be made to a charity of your choice.
