Biography

Jon Michael Linde, 71, of Idaho Falls passed away August 5, 2011 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center after a courageous battle with several forms of cancer for several years. Known to family and friends as Mike, he was born on April 25, 1940 in Helena, Montana to Fred Linde and Elizabeth Anna Green. He grew up in Idaho and Utah and graduated from High School in Twin Falls. He continued his education at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, at Secora, New Mexico and earned a degree in chemistry at Westminster College in Salt Lake City. In October 1962 he began work at the Naval Research Facility, where he held several operations and management positions until retiring eleven years ago. Mike married Kathleen Kay Crockett on October 2, 1965 in Idaho Falls and together they had the privilege and joy of raising four children. While maintaining with his wife a warm, loving household, he had many professional accomplishments and enjoyed a variety of activities, including fishing, riding motorcycles, camping, bird watching and being with his family. He was a member of the Presbyterian faith. Mike is survived by his wife Kate of Idaho Falls; daughter Whitney K. Stewart (and Bruce) of Soda Springs; daughter Meri S. Weninger of Idaho Falls; son Jon M. LindeII (and Kelli) of Bend, OR; and son Dr. Matthew D. Linde (and David) of San Francisco, CA; 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Fred M. Linde. Mike lived an active and generous life characterized by loving devotion to his wife and family. His ashes will be interred at Fielding Memorial cemetery at the memorial wall on Wednesday August 10, 2011, ceremony at 2:00 p.m.. A private family celebration of his life will be held at his home in Idaho Falls.
