Mike Bennett, 71, of Ucon, Idaho passed away at home with his family on May 5, 2013, after a long fight with liver disease.
He was born August 31, 1941, in Grand Junction, Colorado. Mike married Luella Irene Patterson on September 8, 1962 in Fruita, Colorado. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1966.
He graduated from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Co.
He was a hydrologist for the United States Geological Survey and Department of Energy for over 35 years. He was also a farmer, rancher, and real estate professional. Mike treasured his wife, children and grandchildren. He also loved history, politics, his country and working the land. Mike could carry a conversation with anyone and loved to talk. He was interested in everything and everyone and never lost his sense of curiosity.
He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in various positions including Elder’s Quorum President, Scout Leader, Young Men’s President, and Sunday School Teacher.
Mike is survived by his wife, Luella of Idaho Falls of 50 years, three daughters: Gina Sterner of Pocatello, ID; Alys Rees of Coalville, UT; Ada Bennett of Washington, DC; Son, Timothy Alan Bennett of Las Vegas, NV; and 12 Grandchildren.
Mike was preceded in death by two sons; Brett Olin and Mikie Bennett.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the Milo LDS Church (12127 North 75th East, Idaho Falls Idaho 83401). Prior to the service family will visit with friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers Mike would prefer a donation to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF); JDRF.org 800-533-2873.
He will be buried in the Ucon Cemetery next to his son.
