She was born October 28, 1943, in Poplar, Idaho to Merrill Ray Byington and Bessie Theresa Hunsaker Byington. She grew up and attended schools in Ririe, graduating from Ririe High School. On July 12, 1961, she married David “Sandy” Monroe in Ririe, Idaho. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls temple on November 21, 1964. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. Sandy was the love of her life and she enjoyed and cherished every moment with him. Her house was always open for anyone and anything. She took care of many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and grandchildren. Everyone loved coming to grandma and grandpa Monroe’s. If she wasn’t taking care of children then she was taking care of dogs, cats and loved to feed even the wild animals like squirrels and birds. She spent many hours looking out her kitchen window watching birds come and go. Many hours were also spent in the kitchen baking. She loved to make homemade bread, cinnamon rolls and pies. There was never any reason to leave her table hungry. Household and lawn chores were easily done by everyone in trade for anything from her kitchen. She enjoyed telling stories of her youth where she played the drums in the band, was a cheerleader and on the dance team. Mickey was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She also enjoyed gardening, canning and playing cards. She loved watching football with her husband and family and playing volleyball and softball. Above all Mickey loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and especially loved all the family get togethers.
