Michael Ryan Peterson

On March 28, 2024, Michael Ryan Peterson, age 41, was surrounded by his family as he peacefully passed to the other side of the veil. Mike valiantly battled a glioblastoma brain tumor diagnosed just over fifteen months ago. Thanks to fantastic doctors, medical facilities, and personalized treatment by friends he made along his educational journey, he was able to overcome the odds and live an additional year beyond his original diagnosis to spend quality time with family and friends.

As is evident from being a successful Pediatric Radiologist, Mike was passionate, dedicated, and hardworking. He brought joy everywhere he went and was the life of the party. If you knew Mike, you inevitably felt like you were his best friend, because you were. He was constantly serving others around him, including multiple service missions in Africa, with his wife, Melissa. A part of his heart resides in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, Africa where he served his LDS mission. We are so grateful for how he blessed all of our lives.

In his spare time he completed marathons, triathlons, cycled and competed in Lotoja. Above all, he loved spending quality time with his family. They loved to travel. Mike was an avid Mariners and BYU fan, but there was nothing more important to him than the Savior and his family. Those sports teams were just a means of bringing people together and that is exactly what Mike did; bring us together.

Mike, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, loved weekly temple trips with his wife. He lived a Christ centered life through his daily Christlike example. No one ever questioned his love for the Savior.

Mike is survived by his wife Melissa Peterson (Simpson), Sons: Drake (19) Cache (14) McKay (12), and Daughter: Madelyn (17). Mother and Father: Hal and Julie Peterson (Hillam), Sisters: Mindy (John) Livingstone, Jessica Peterson, and Tyra (Traegan) Judy as well as his brother Scott (Jorine) Peterson. Also, his in-laws: Phil and Trudi Simpson, Isac (Jennifer) Simpson, Jordan (Sadie) Simpson, and Michael (Whitney) Simpson.

We wish to express how grateful we have been for everyone's love and support throughout this journey. We could not have done this journey without you! In lieu of flowers, anyone that would like to donate to Mike and his family’s future church mission and education funds, can donate directly to Melissa's Venmo @Melissa-Peterson-35 All funds will be used/saved and put towards his children’s church missions and education.
