Michael Neeley, 65, of Idaho Falls, passed away May 4, 2017, at his home. Michael was born June 6, 1951, in Logan, Utah, to Earl Lowell Neeley and Clarice Cole Neeley. He grew up and attended schools in Ogden, Utah; Truckee, Nevada; Montrose, Colorado; and Chester, Montana, where he graduated from Chester High School. He also attended Brigham Young University where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. He was also in the ROTC Program through which he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army. On May 13, 1978, he married Carolyn Sue Thompson in the Provo Utah LDS Temple. To this union were born six children, David, Mary, Michelle, Angela, Nathan, and Justen. Michael and Carolyn made their home in Brookfield, Illinois, where Michael worked as a Civil Engineer for the Army Corps of Engineers. He then retired and they made their home in Idaho Falls in 2005. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed electric trains and playing the piano. He also sang in a barbershop quartet and was an avid scriptorian and genealogist. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren. Michael is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Thompson Neeley of Idaho Falls, ID; son, David Michael (Amanda) Neeley of Kearns, UT; daughter, Mary Elizabeth (Nicolas) Klingler of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Michelle Faye (Jeremy) Bowen of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Angela Dawn Neeley of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Nathan Earl (Ashley) Neeley of St. George, UT; son, Justen Vernon (Noelle) Neeley of Rexburg, ID; father, Earl Lowell Neeley of ID; mother, Clarice C. Neeley of ID; brother, Mark (Susan) Neeley of Lehi, UT; brother, Gregory (Cathy) Neeley of North Logan, UT; sister, Rebecca Jo (Carey) Knuth of CA; and 16 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Taylor Crossing Ward (2040 Brentwood Drive). The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the New Sweden Cemetery where Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
