Michael Robert Hankins

Michael Robert Hankins, aged 80, passed away on September 17, 2024. He was a beloved father, husband, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Michael was born on February 20, 1944, in New York, then moved to Colorado where he spent his formative years. He went on to enlist in the United States Navy and is a Vietnam Veteran. After leaving the Navy he spent time in California working for various contractors for the Voyager and Apollo space programs.

Later, when starting a family, he moved to Idaho and worked at the Idaho National Laboratory for 30 years. Throughout his career, he was known for his hard work, dedication, and numerous achievements.

More than anything, Michael was a devoted father. He loved spending time with his children, sharing stories, enjoying various Idaho outdoor activities, and fetching and carrying things for his wife. He was always there to offer guidance, support, and encouragement, no matter what challenges they faced.

Michael is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Hankins; his children, Matthew & Adam; and his grandchildren, Dawson & Macyn.

His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.

A memorial gathering will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Monday, July 14, 2025, at The Brickyard Event Center, 1025 South Ammon Road.
