Michael Matthew Fuson

Michael Matthew Fuson, 75, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away on August 27, 2024, with his daughter, Nicole Fuson Hill, by his side.

Michael was born June 21, 1949, in Boulder City, Nevada, to Norma Shirley Mathews and Theodore Feldman. He lived in Las Vegas, Nevada, until 1952. He moved to Santa Monica, California, then the San Fernando Valley. Michael played Pop Warner football and Little League baseball. He attended Cleveland High School in Northridge, California.

Michael served in the U.S. Army. He was in Vietnam for two years. He was a survivor of Hill 875. He was awarded multiple Purple Hearts and Bronze Stars, a Combat Infantry Badge, Air Medal, and many more medals. He served under the 173rd Airborne Special Forces. He was very proud of his service for our country.

Michael loved the water. He loved surfing in Malibu, California, when he was younger. He owned multiple boats. His favorite was his fishing boat, The Poco Loco, he docked in Newport Beach. He enjoyed taking trips with the family on it to Catalina Island. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and being part of a club. He was a car enthusiast and loved Mustangs. He loved traveling and camping.

Michael was self-employed and started several successful businesses. The one he was most proud of was Empire Stamped Concrete in Riverside, California. He did stamped concrete at several famous peoples’ houses like Ernest Borgnine and Sonny and Cher. He owned his own trucking company, dry batch concrete, and concrete pumping company. In the 1990s, he owned Pickup Outfitters in Lodi, California, and he also owned a ranch in Northern California where he bred Morgan horses and owned Draft horses and a carriage company.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Shirley and Theodore; his first wife, Chris Gill; son, Aaron Fuson; brother-in-law, Dale Schoonhoven; and great niece, Miriam Scott.

He is survived by his sons, Michael (Sue) Fuson Jr. and Brian (Cassea) Fuson; daughter, Nicole Fuson Hill; his second wife, Celeste Fuson Mata; grandchildren, Bradley Ellis, Taylor Fuson, James Bennett, Jayla Hill, Mariah Fuson, and Brent Fuson; great grandchildren, Kalilah Chaidez Bennett and Ivy  Bingham; sister, Linda Schoonhoven; nieces, Heather (Tim) Garcia and Dawn (Brandon) Scott; great nephews, Michah Garcia and Luke Garcia; and great niece, Hannah Scott.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 16, 2024, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Military Honors will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and the Idaho Honor Guard.
